Our Story
The concept of Flats Pirate begins within us as children in the form of curiosity, exploration, and the desire to capture. Many current day anglers derived their passion and love for the water through childhood adventures along the coast in canoes, kayaks, jon boats, or anything that would float. Whether it was catching fish, crabs or shells, the hunt was captivating and exciting.
As we grow up, that piece of childhood never dies...it only strengthens. We get bigger and faster boats, modern gear and tackle, and hunt for more prestigious treasures on the flats. But conceptually, we're all just living out our childhood dreams of catching big fish on the flats, mangroves, and marshes of the southeast.
Pillage & Plunder Responsibly
While we may be modern-day pirates of the flats, it is important to pillage and plunder responsibly in order to preserve our fisheries for generations to come.
A portion of every sale from our website is donated to the Coastal Conservation Association. CCA's objective is to "conserve, promote, and enhance the present and future availability of coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public."
Help do your part by:
- Respecting local fishing regulations and bag limits
- Only keeping what you plan on eating
- Be gentle and respectful with any fish you plan on releasing
- Don't litter and help clean up when you see trash floating and along our shorelines
- Join CCA and get involved with your local chapter
